The trip started in Taiwan with my annual visit to the Taiwan Electronics Show then a visit to Hong Kong were I met up with Robert Birks my old chum from Highschool days in Canada. Robert traveled to Guangzhou and Shantau China with me and then went off on his own adventrue in Thailand while I continued into Mainland China with Edwin. Edwin used to work at our factory in Zhu Hai and has agreed to take me to his home town to meet his family and to travel with me to the Vietnam border. Without his help I would never have been able to visit some of the places he took me. I was told that I was the only foreigner to ever set foot in one village.

Hong Kong now belongs to Mainland China but there are no apparent changes since my last visit except for the super new airport and the badges on the police uniforms. While in HK I meet up with another Canadian friend, Ralph Bishop of Montreal. Ralph has been living in Hong Kong for a number of years. We met at an electronics convention many years ago and have kept in close contact. Ralph married Janie from Taiwan a few years ago and now they have a penthouse apartment in the city.

Next we have the Tan's Patrick and Tina. I work with them on the musical instruments from Mainland China.

Here is a photo of Pius Ching who used to work with me in Toronto. He is a sales engineer now in HK for HP and he travels throught mainland China for the Company. Pius's wife is my sister's best friend and sis introduced them in Canada about 20 years ago. Pius came to Zhu Hai with me last year. We only had time to meet for a coffee this trip.

Most of my time in HK was devoted to visiting friends and touring the streets with Robert. We had a good time at the sidewalk cafe's and ate all kinds of things that we had never seen before. One strange item was a giant shrimp like creature that looked just like a praying Mantis

It was delicious !

Robert and Patrick and I flew from HK to Shantau on the Mainland and visited the music factory there.
